20th Virtual Conference “The Future of Surgery”

Welcome to the Next-Generation Supermicrosurgery Consortium. Headed by Dr. Isao Koshima, the Consortium was established to advance and promote the field of supermicrosurgery, from both clinical and industrial perspectives. MIRAI Medtech is a funding support partner.Since 2020, the Consortium have been holding regularly scheduled Virtual Conferences in Japan. Experts in medicine and engineering are invited to discuss cutting-edge medical treatments and technologies with one another, by challenging the paradigm separating specialties. Our conferences typically host about fifty individuals. Participants are surgeons and clinicians, researchers, and device engineers. We also encourage and welcome participation by manufacturers and dealers of medical devices. During 2021, the Next-Generation Supermicrosurgery Consortium started English-based virtual events for international participants.

Summary:

The evolution of surgical treatment for lymphedema has been accompanied by advancements in various diagnostic and therapeutic devices that support super microsurgery, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life (QOL) for lymphedema patients.
However, objective evaluation of lymphedema diagnosis and post-disease progression is still limited to a few medical institutions, and diagnostic criteria for treatment have not yet been widely shared among healthcare providers. The team at Chiba University, led by Dr. Akita, is working on the development of low-cost, minimally invasive diagnostic devices, taking into account past and present approaches to lymphedema diagnosis and treatment. As a condition for broader implementation in society, the goal is to create user-friendly devices that allow anyone, anywhere, to easily check the condition of swelling.
In this lecture, we will present the latest developments in the devices currently under development, as well as our vision for the future.

President Isao Koshima (Professor of the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Hiroshima University Hospital) of this research society will present the latest findings and global trends related to the invited lecture.

After the lecture, there will be a lively online panel discussion with the speakers.
We hope you will join us for this informative event!
